Brow Lift

A brow lift or forehead elevation is surgical method of reversing the effects of aging. This procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired.

A forehead lift is most commonly performed in someone over age 40. As we grow older, our skin loses its elasticity, and furrows tend to form. At the same time, this loss of elasticity renders the soft tissues more vulnerable to gravitational effects. This, combined with environmental forces, often results in brow droop. Brow lifting can effectively reverse these effects.

In a forehead lift, the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines.

Brow lifts are performed using several different techniques that depend on age, gender, and facial characteristics. The doctor would be able to help you decide which option is best for you.

Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty):

Upper eyelid lift:

In this procedure, excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids is removed. Upper eyelid surgery will correct the appearance of an old, tired and/or angry look, yielding a more youthful and alert appearance.

In the upper blepharoplasty, a fine incision is made in the crease of the upper lid. Loose skin and fat are removed and then carefully sutured. The doctor takes special care to remove the exact amount of skin so a natural-looking, more youthful result is achieved.

Lower eyelid lift:

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes the excess fat and skin in the lower eyelids. This excess tissue appears as “bags” and/or discoloration under the eyes.

The lower eyelid incision is usually made form the inside of the lower lid. However, like upper eyelid belpharoplasty, lower lid surgery can be performed with our without the use of a laser. Not all lower lid surgery requires a skin incision. If an incision is required they are concealed by the natural eyelid contour and lashes, and are barely visible.

The final outcome of an eyelid lift is a rested, more youthful appearance with a reduction in the excess skin and bags around the eyes. Results vary according to each individual’s age, skin type, healing ability and other factors. Improvement in the appearance is often quite dramatic.

BOTOX

Approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 1989, Botox is a focal muscle-relaxing agent, is the name brand of botulinum toxin type A, which is a diluted and purified material produced by the bacteria that makes botulism, a paralyzing neurotoxin. Botox relaxes the overactive muscles that cause frown lines and laugh lines yielding a more refreshed look without a major surgical procedure.

A 10 minute treatment involves injecting a very small dose of the toxin directly into the specific muscles which cause the unwanted lines of expression, paralyzing isolated muscles. Following the injection, it can take from three to fourteen day to achieve the maximal results and the paralysis lasts from two to five months and can yield very dramatic results. Treatment is simple and non-surgical however, to maintain the effect, the injections must be repeated.
