There are diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy that continue to deprive people of their eyesight and his hope is that through assisting the advancement of these therapies, he can help prevent those losses. Dr. Nielsen is currently conducting a study on cataracts to help eliminate the difficulties in driving, reading a computer screen, color distinction, and seeing at night caused by blurry vision. He also has several other clinical research studies being conducted at his practice including glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.

About Steven A. Nielsen, MD

Dr. Steven Nielsen is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California before moving on to become the President of the Nielsen Eye Center, the Medical Director of the Cataract and Laser Center, and the Medical Director of the Quincy Laser Eye Center. With over 25,000 successful laser procedures, Dr. Nielsen is a leading expert on the latest technologies and advancement in eye care and eye care surgeries. Dr. Nielsen is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), the International Society of Cosmetic and Laser Surgeons, the Massachusetts Medical Society, and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
