Top 4 Signs You Might Have Cataracts

Because the lens of the eye requires light to pass through it in order to focus, any obstruction will impair vision. When a cataract clouds the natural lens of the eye, light is blocked or scattered before it reaches the retina. This obstruction can impact eyesight in a number of  ways, including the following cataract symptoms:

  • Blurry or cloudy distance vision
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Colors or contrast appear faded
  • Rays or halos of light emanating from sources such as lamps or headlights

Many of our patients visit our practice because they have noticed their eyesight gradually worsening. Though refractive errors such as nearsightedness or farsightedness are often the cause for this change in vision quality, cataracts are also a common condition that can affect the eyesight of millions of Americans. Fortunately, patients suffering from cataracts can usually have their vision successfully restored with cataract surgery
