LASIK Pricing
Have you ever wondered how much it costs to get LASIK?
LASIK is a significant investment, both financially and in terms of your well-being. That’s why at Nielsen Eye Center, we offer the best balance of affordability, flexible financing plans, and exceptional quality.
What is the average cost of LASIK?

There’s no single answer to this question. Many factors will affect the overall cost of LASIK. In most cases, LASIK is not covered by insurance. The good news is that if LASIK seems like it may cost too much, there are extensive financing options available.
In addition, note that this total cost includes pre-op, post-op, and associated exams at Nielsen Eye Center. Also, consider that when you get LASIK, you’re saving money since you’ll no longer need to pay for glasses, contacts, and their respective accessories.
Most importantly, remember that this is an investment in your health and well-being, which will improve your quality of life.

What factors affect the cost of LASIK surgery?
Your LASIK Surgeon
First, you need to have a sound idea of who your surgeon is. This is the person that will be performing your LASIK procedure.
Make sure they are board-certified and that their credentials are clear and transparent. Ask the practice if you are uncertain. They should be more than happy to share this information about their credentials.
You will pay more for a surgeon with a solid reputation, and you should. Don’t take the risk of hiring a LASIK practice or surgeon that’s offering discounts that seem like a red flag. If the cost seems too good to be true, it probably is.
A good surgeon will be transparent about everything. They will build a relationship with you, see you before and after you’ve had LASIK, and help you feel comfortable in every way.
Nielsen Eye Center depends on state-of-the-art technology and a fantastic team of surgeons. The Nielsen Eye Center is a LASIK pioneer in New England with vast experience, knowledge, and a reputation and has performed LASIK not only on many of their staff members but also on their spouses, their children, extended family members, and friends. Everyone in the medical field would know how much confidence one would need to operate on one’s own family, especially on their young healthy eyes.
Type of Equipment and Type of Procedure
Because LASIK is an elective procedure, it is not usually covered by most insurance plans. Some employers have health plans which partially cover LASIK, so be sure to check with your employer and mention the exact type of procedure you’re considering.
Some surgeons price their services in part based on the type of equipment and technology used. Technology that allows for a more precise, customized procedure may cost more, but it means you’ll have more efficient and reliable results.

For our LASIK patients, we use the Allegretto Wave®, one of the greatest inventions in ophthalmology, as we believe it offers patients the superior results they want. We only lease our lasers instead of buying them, so it allows us the freedom to upgrade to a more advanced laser as soon as it comes to the market.
Think of the cost of LASIK, like buying a car or continuing to lease a new vehicle. The price difference truly reflects the quality and advancement in technology.
Not everyone is a good candidate for LASIK, so we also offer other vision correction procedures like Intralase and Flapless LASIK (LASEK).
LASIK Financing Options
If you like the idea of LASIK, there are plenty of financing options available to make it more affordable. For many people, this is in the form of low monthly payments. Why should achieving visual freedom hinge on if you can pay for it up-front? Nielsen Eye Center offers the following financing options:
- CareCredit Financing
- Flex Spending
- Extended Payment Plans
We also accept cash, MasterCard, Visa, Discover Card, American Express, Corporate Vision Plan, and participating insurance discounts. Checks are accepted in some cases. Call and speak with our patient advocates to discuss financing options.
