YOUR VISION IS OUR MISSION

I received a prompt appointment at a day and time that was best for me to coincide with my wife’s nearby appointment at South Shore Medical. I sent through my battery of tests with a technician and had my eyes dilated. The drops they use are much more comfortable than at other places. And then the Dr. examined me. Everyone was very nice and explained things clearly. I’m looking forward to my new tuned up lenses!

What are the Benefits of the WaveLight® Femtosecond Laser?

The WaveLight® Femtosecond Laser offers many different benefits to our LASIK patients. Some of the top benefits include:

Fast, Precise Treatment

With PerfectPulse Technology™, the WaveLight® Femtosecond Laser creates a consistent, precise flap in approximately six seconds using a remarkable 200,000 pulses per second – faster than any other platform available. This can drastically cut down on time spent in your LASIK surgery and produce better vision in as little as 10-15 minutes.

Personalized Options

This platform allows your LASIK surgeon to customize and calibrate your procedure to your exact needs. Through advanced computer technology, your LASIK surgeon can create variable flap sizes and shapes as well as positions and angles as needed for your vision correction.

Reduction in Halos and Glares

Older LASIK systems tend to leave a flat area on the front of the cornea where the flap is created, which is responsible for the halos and glares that many patients experience after surgery (especially at night). The WaveLight® Femtosecond Laser uses a Wavefront Optimized® ablation profile which maintains the natural curvature of the cornea, reducing the risk of poor night vision and glares.

Eye Tracking Technology

The WaveLight® Femtosecond Laser uses multi-spatial eye-tracking technology to compensate for eye movements during LASIK. You don’t have to worry about moving your eyes – the platform constantly assesses your eye position and calculates accordingly throughout.

Multiple Surgical Uses

The WaveLight® Femtosecond Laser isn’t just for LASIK. It can also be used to perform precise corneal incisions and pockets, as well as keratoplasties. Your eye surgeon can help you explore all possible options with this unique and advanced technology – not just LASIK.
